our garden.

we seriously adore our garden. we can't wait to start eating some of our veggies this summer.

potatoes! it is seriously so cool how you plant potatoes. you basically cut up a potato that has sprouted a lot of eyes. you just need to make sure you have at least 3 eyes on each section. then you plant them & let them grow. it is seriously insane how fast they have grown. this is week 3.

potatoes up close. the small white flowers behind them is jasmine. this was in our backyard already & it smells amazing.

onions. they are growing like crazy. but not ready to harvest yet.

zucchini. we just got our first blossoms this week. it was nice & warm so hopefully they will keep growing!

easter brunch.

we hosted a nice little easter brunch with a few of our closest friends out here. we had such a wonderful day. first, the patels stopped by after church. we love anytime we get to see mary, roshan & baby dean. later for brunch, jennie, shannon & derek came by. i made a red pepper & ricotta frittata. i was a little nervous because this was my first frittata. it turned out amazing. i highly recommend this recipe. also, the highlight of the morning/afternoon was the bloody mary bar. i found the tip in sunset magazine & it was so fun. everyone was able to make their own bloody mary to their own specifications. yum! see below for some photos on how i set up the bar!

apple pie.

i seriously love apple pie. and i can make a pretty good crust. i used the cook's illustrated recipe. it turned out awesome. the trick to this recipe is using a mix of apples. the recipe called for 3 granny smith & 4 mcintosh...the market was out of mcintosh so i went with gala. serve with a bit of vanilla bean ice cream & you are good to go!

easter egg coloring.

i am slightly crazy when it comes to always having to do the traditions of holidays. so i had a momentary freakout when our market was sold out of easter egg coloring kits. thankfully my husband has a lot of patience with me & we drove to the closest walgreens to pick one up. we tried with both brown & white eggs...overall we were happier with the way the brown eggs turned out. see below for some fun photos!
